Problem
In today’s world where people want to feel understood and relate to others, we wanted to create a platform for people with phobias so they can share their stories and struggles with others who truly understands their experience.
Question
How can we create a digital space where individuals can openly share their phobia stories, creating a supportive community with individuals who understand and relate to their daily struggles?

Research
We created a questionnaire in order to understand how people experience phobias and how they affect them. in addition, we asked individuals to share a short story in which the phobia they experience has reflected in their everyday life.
Ideation
We sorted the information we received from the questionnaire by different categories in a chart. We then decided on our approach and how we wanted to present the stories visually. Next, we focused on mapping the website and creating a visual language that best suits our goals in creating a social media platform for people with phobias.

Visual Language
We wanted the visual language to allow the users to experience the phobia the way the storyteller did. We created an abstract visual language from paper shapes which we scanned and edited. Each phobia got a color palette and several abstract shapes with which we created the different stories related to that phobia. We made a short animation for each illustration, when hovering over an animation, the phobia is revealed.
